Original painting 1.5m x 1m
This painting is based on a hike that Sirpa and her children did, up the ridge behind the artists home bay, Ngakuta Bay in Marlborough sounds. From the tops you get commanding views of the bay and the Queen Charlotte Sound. Picton and Waikawa can be seen on the right and Mt Stokes, the highest peak in the Sounds, can be seen in the distance with one little fluffy cloud on top. This piece is slightly unusual for the artist, as the landscape is easily recognisable. This moment of a coffee break and peanut butter sandwiches once the top has been reached depicts the sense of achievement and pleasure that outdoor activities bring, especially with your loved ones. The vibrant colors of outdoor clothing against the predominant turquoises and greens of the Sounds will brighten up your living room and gives you exciting opportunities to match splashes of color in your interior design.
