Burnt orange rock formations against the deep ultramarine sky makes a striking contrast and a scene hard to forget. These layered rock columns are at their most impressive around the town of Sedona in Arizona. Walking among the towering structures makes you feel small and insignificant but at the same time in awe of the natural wonders.
In this rare landscape painting Sirpa wanted to experiment how would it be to paint a landscape with Sirpa-style. Instead of emphasising on portraying people, she's highlighted the landscape.
Sirpas technique is based on rich layers of color on textured canvas. The carefully selected under color for each tonality of light gives the paintings an air of depth.
